Welcome to the family! Our family owned business, Grupo Agricola Prieto has been growing bananas since the 1950s! We farm in the El Oro Province of Ecuador, South America. Ecuador has a warm climate and is a great location that allows us to grow our bananas year-round; although our best time of year is from January – May. Because we have such healthful land, we only grow the bananas in Ecuador, allowing us to benefit from the rich and fertile soil.

Although the family business has been around for more than 50 years, we started growing all of our crops organically in 1997 because we believe it is important to take care of the earth and keep the soil in good condition for the next generation of farmers. We also believe in practicing safe farming methods because it is important to take care of the environment in which we work and live. Some of the reasons we love our job is because we work with our family and we are never bored because bananas are harvested each week. There is always something to do! We definitely face some problems from time to time, especially if we have bad weather. Even still, we love our jobs and are proud to share our favorite fruit with so many people!
